What is Agile? When to use it

Agile is an approach to project management that focuses on stepwise and iterative steps to complete projects. Incremental parts of the project are implemented in short-term development cycles. This approach prioritizes fast delivery, adapting to change and collaboration, rather than top-down management and adherence to a set plan.

In Agile processes, there is continuous feedback, enabling team members to adapt to emerging challenges, and stakeholders to be able to communicate consistently. Although originally created for software development, the Agile approach is now widely used in many different types of projects and running organizations.

Contrast this with more traditional forms of project management. Traditional project management generally proceeds linearly through the stages of planning, designing, implementing, and closing. One stage must be completed before proceeding to the next.
